When you first land on a Social Bookmarking site, you feel like you’ve hit the jackpot. A platform where you can lay off as many links as you like and there’s no one to stop you.

Well there is, and the devil goes by the name of Google. It won’t stop you from building links, it just has its own ways of showing dissatisfaction.

So my suggestion is, go slow. Do not make more than 2 links/day for one website from one Social Bookmarking site on a maximum.

Do Follow Links:-

This one goes without saying, if you’re trying to pass some link juice, I’ll take a do-follow over a no-follow any day of the year. That’s exactly what you’ve got to do while bookmarking your site.

Try to use sites which offer do-follow links, but also make sure that you aren’t purely going after do-follows and neglecting the no-follows, because well this counts as link diversity as well.

Same Description and Profile Data:-

Many a times, when building a profile or writing a description, you tend to copy paste the same data over and over again. And you’re like, Google won’t read the whole article, just the anchor texts”. Well that’s so wrong, Google does pay attention to the surrounding keywords of any anchor text as well.

So using the same data over and over clearly sends a duplicate flag which isn’t exactly healthy for your links. So try to use as much fresh data as possible with each link.

Although fresh data doesn’t mean “changing your registered name”, if you’re making links as Mr. X, you can keep using the same name over and over again, it actually works towards building authority.

Be Legit:-

When you create an account on a Social bookmarking site, most of the times you just signup, put your links and never go back again. Well, the general idea should be to build a “Real profile” there, make it look like you aren’t there for the links but for really using the platform.

Try to interact with other bookmarks, pages, and people on the platform (if they’ve such a community), do not insert links every single day and so on.

Be Specific:-

Most Social bookmarking sites allow you to choose category for your bookmarks when you’re building them. The best thing you can do is, choose a category as specific and narrow to your website as possible.

It’s not exactly a SEO factor, but it still counts. And anyway, all those other categories which might seem like having millions of traffic will be over-crowded anyway.

Don’t be a Script Kiddie:-

On Fiverr, you can easily find I’ll build 10000 social bookmarks for you for $5″ gigs. Well, don’t go for them. Neither should you go for those easily available, cheap automated link building tools.

In fact, you shouldn’t go for any tool doesn’t matter how premium it is for link building. Not for social bookmarking, not for web 2.0s basically not for any type of link building.

Do it manually and your website would thank you forever.
